Conference will feature keynote addresses from ONC Coordinator Karen De Salvo, West Health Institute CEO Nicholas Valeriani and best-selling author Malcolm Gladwell

institute-logo_1 (Washington, DC – February 3, 2014)  – Galileo Analytics Co-Founder Anna McCollister-Slipp will speak at this week’s HCI-DC 2014: Igniting an Interoperable Health Care System, scheduled for February 6 at the Omni Shoreham hotel in Washington, DC.

ONC-Health-IT-LogoSponsored by the Gary and Mary West Health Institute (WHI) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), the conference will convene stakeholders critical to driving interoperability among medical devices and electronic health records, a critically needed step toward improving patient care and reducing health care costs.

The day-long program will feature key note speeches by author Malcolm Gladwell, WHI CEO Nick Valeriani and ONC Coordinator Karen De Salvo, as well as expert panels and collaborative networking sessions.

McCollister-Slipp will be part of a panel session moderated by ONC Chief Medical Officer Jacob Reider, titled Perspectives from the Point of Care.

Now in its fourth year, the West Health Institute’s “Health Care Innovation” series of conferences convenes policy makers and leaders from the public and private sectors to discuss innovative solutions to our nation’s health care challenges. Past HCI-DC events have featured the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Food and Drug Administration, Federal Communications Commission and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

There is no charge to attend the conference. It is open to policymakers, federal employees, health care advocates, business leaders, business development executives, academics, and product and technology specialists with a focus on or interest in health information technology, particularly in the area of interoperability. It will also be open to the media and live webcast.
